Basilius Besler (1561-1629) "Hortus Eystettensis" Published 1613 in Eichstatt and Nuremburg. One of the earliest Florilegiums published and certainly the most monumental and one of the most beautiful botanical works ever published.
It depics the botanical specimens growing in the garden of Bishop Johann Conrad in Eichstatt, Germany. Over one thousand flowers are delineated in this great work. Consisting of 374 plates over 16 years. Copperplate engravings, hand coloured.
